AN IDEA BECOMES A PROJECT
Just a few years ago, the old site of the synagogue on Fraenkelufer lay like a slumber next to the Landwehr Canal in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Forgotten, overgrown, grey. But since the politician Raed Saleh suggested the reconstruction of the synagogue in the FRANKFURTER ALLGEMEINE ZEITUNG on November 9, 2017, the site has been incredibly dynamic. An architect presented the first ideas of how a reconstruction could look like, a committed group of several dozen enthusiasts met in the rooms and founded a support association, journalists from the WASHINGTON POST, from RADIO FRANCE INTERNATIONAL to LA REPUBBLICA from Rome came by to report about our project worldwide. A board of trustees with important people in society already exists. It has only just begun!
